European defence tech company Project Q raises 15 million euros to further develop its open-source platform HYDRIS

Berlin, 13^th of July 2026 – Just eleven months after its seed funding round, the European defence tech company Project Q successfully closed a Series A funding round of 15 million euros in June.

The funding round is being led by Expeditions, which is expanding its investment in Project Q. The existing investor, Project A, is also increasing its investment. Also participating in the round are the publicly traded German defence specialist HENSOLDT AG and the German venture capital investor Heliad. Project Q’s products are designed to strengthen Europe’s digital sovereignty in the security and defence sectors. The company thus remains entirely funded by European investors.

The new capital will be invested primarily infurther developing HYDRIS, a European open-source integration and orchestration platform that enables armed forces and government agencies to achieve greater technological sovereignty and faster innovation cycles. HYDRIS enables theseamless integration of commercially available technologies, data sources, and existing legacy systems. HYDRIS creates a vendor-neutral foundation forresilient, interoperable, and technologically sovereign operations, as well asan open innovation ecosystem, through open standards, AI-powered dataprocessing, edge computing, and distributed operations. At the same time, the platform integrates seamlessly into existing software landscapes, mission systems, and command and control information systems, thereby expanding theircapabilities.

Project Q, led by Leonard and Philipp, is the most mature effort that aims to solve this problem and create an interoperability layer that controls how systems communicate, integrate and deliver impact on the battlefield.”
